Individual Income Tax – Select Advanced Training course is designed based on continuous feedback from other tax preparers. The participants get an opportunity to take go through some common, but oftentimes, complex areas. Tax preparers who are already in practice can take advantage to start adding clients they may otherwise have to refer to someone else.

- A detailed review of issues involving Principal residence exemption in Canada and Change of use.
- Emerging areas of crypto assets and their taxation
- Tax residency in Canada. A detailed training session on how to determine the tax residency of an individual taxpayer in Canada. How to distinguish between different residency statuses such as factual resident, deemed resident, deemed non-resident and nonresident. How Canada’s tax treaties with other countries override the otherwise Canadian determination of residence status of a taxpayer.
- Canadian taxation of non-residents, immigrants and emigrants. Important tax planning for immigration and emigration including departure tax. Section 216 & Section 217 tax returns.
- Taxation of worldwide income of Canadian resident taxpayers. Reporting foreign income in Canada, foreign tax deductions and credits. Avoiding double taxation using tax treaties and finally foreign assets reporting in Canada.
- Canadian taxpayers with income from the United States. Taxation of Dual-citizens and residents (Canadian side, with occasional reference to U.S. taxation). An overview of the Canada-U.S. tax treaty and a deeper look into selected articles.
- Mock tax returns for the areas mentioned above. Scaling up the tax practice, proper pricing of services and some other valuable tips.
